More really big food…and we eat more veggies than we know!
Warning: Very graphic and tempting images of…food! oh and this is my personal opinion and it is not true that we eat more veggies…just my thoughts.
Ok so this is a Danish pastry that my mom always buys from the store. (she also buys “monster muffins” look for that blog soon! haha, just kidding) Well anyways, one of these danishes is almost the size of my cd player! Wow, that is big?! Nutritionally, the danish is really big too. 340 calories big to be exact. Almost 30 grams of sugar and almost 50 grams of carbohydrates…for very little nutritional value! ahhh I don’t remember what they said about fats though…just thought I would share.
I agree completely with Leslie Sansone. She states in her book,
“Bigger is not always better. You don’t want your fork supersized. You don’t want your cat supersize. Why would you want giant food?” (Walk away the pounds, 210).
I think I might go post that on the refrigerator now…
Well since I am hypothyroid I have read all of the web that soy is not good for people with thyroid problems. Supposedly it slows your metabolism? I wouldn’t imagine that I even eat that much soy! I remember when we moved to this house, there was a field adjacent to our house and I asked my dad what was growing over there. He replied soy…what is soy? I had never heard of it! Who eats soy and was it just invented? lol at that time the vegetables I knew were corn, tomatoes and potatoes. I knew of green beans, peas and carrots at school but I did not like them…but I never heard of soy and didn’t think I would ever eat that either.
So when I read that I should avoid soy, it seemed like an easy task. I don’t eat alot of veggies, why should this one be so hard to avoid too? lol until I started reading labels. OMG soy is like in everything! Cereals, milk, yogurt, bread, even in my tuna!
I had always hated that I ate so many processed foods and so little veggies…but I was WRONG! Wrongo…I was eating veggies all along! Haha cookie, it has soy in it, it must count as a vegetable?
yay yummy veggies….
Nancy (anyone) I bought a mango today!! Now what do I do with it? Can I just cut it and eat it?
My test results for my ultrasound came back and they told me I have a goiter on my neck
apparently it is harmless, but in 6 months they want to retest it and I guess see that it is not growing/shrinking doing anything naughty…I hate to think there is something on my neck though. I just hope it doesn’t grow arms and legs :/
Going to workout with Jillian now! What is this day 6, 7? I am not sure if it feels easier, but maybe. I feel as though I am getting a little better at the lunges than I was when I first started out. I am at least trying them. Some things I can do with the advanced girl. Like I can do squats now, they are simple to do. With lunges though I go with the beginner girl. Also at times if I am out of breath I and feel like I need a break (like with the cardio) I will go more low impact. But then when I catch my breath I try to go back to the advanced and put all of my energy into whatever they are doing-jumping jacks, jump rope ect.
I love it. Thanks for the advice on the 30 day Shred. She really has been kicking my butt. And I do excercise to it, every other day. Hopefulyl my push-ups gets better.
Haha arms and legs!!! That is a big pastry! Keep up the great work with Jillian! You are doing awesome!
about your groiter. I have been there, i was 16 when they first noticed it. said it is slow growing not to worry. so I did not worry.. well 5 yrs ago I could not breathe it has grown so much that it pushed on my tracia and I almost died.
so please take care of it. After surgery I had to be put in a coma because my tracia (sp?) collapsed thanks to the goiter pushing too much on it..
So pleassseeee be careful.
they had to remove my entire thyroid … which sucks that is when I ballooned up. So make sure please please please you watch it. You want to keep your thyroid for sure even part of it is better than none at all
As for soy. I talked to my dr about it. Soy is not in everything and the little bit that is in some foods is not bad. Now I would never drink soy milk or soy bars or whatnot…..
Sorry about the ramble.. I was just worried
LOL MAMA’S!!!!
OK, take that beautiful mango and just cut it up but be mindful of the refuse (seed)a large one in the center.
That freakin’ danish is GI–NORMOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For a yummy treat you should look into a recipe for Mango Black Bean Salsa! Absolutely delicious with homemade baked tortilla chips and so much healthier for you!
I use to be obsessed with those danishes, I once binged on a whole box
I don’t know if I could live with those in the house. I know they are so crappy but I loved (SEE THE WORD LOVED) them before too.
That stinks, I hope that goiter stays at bay.
I bought a mango too because of Nancy always eating them hehehe
Ack, I used to tear through those danishes!
I also noticed that when I started cutting soy out of my diet that it seemed like it was in everything I ate. I really had to change my diet to avoid it.
